Important Suggestions:
· The Rotary Club of Green Valley will provide information by each square identifying the sponsor for that block. Artists are encouraged to sign their work at the bottom of their drawing.
· If you are reproducing an image originally created by another artist (living or deceased), it is important to credit the original artist and the title at the base of your drawing.
· We expect the area to be crowded, so please try to keep your supplies and belongings to a minimum and well contained.
· Please respect the other artists who are working near you. Please do not walk on their drawings or have open beverage containers, which could spill and damage a drawing.
· If you need more chalk in particular colors, you can exchange colors with other street painters, as is the custom at the street painting festivals in Italy.
· Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages. (No offensive, violent, or sexually explicit graphics, words or political or religious statements). The Rotary Club of Green Valley reserves the right to deem submitted subject matter inappropriate before, or during the event. Inappropriate material will be disallowed or removed.
· Only chalk pastels in solid form may be used: No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, fixatives, etc. are permitted.
· The Rotary Club of Green Valley reserves the right to take and use photographs of all drawings and participants for the purpose of historical record and future publicity.
· Please - no boom-boxes allowed; please use portable head-sets to listen to music.
Supplies you may want to bring:
· Whisk broom or brush for cleaning drawing surface.
· Masking tape for creating sharp borders, edges or geometry.
· A tape measure and/or ruler.
· A portable dust-buster is handy to remove excess chalk dust. Because it is not healthy to breathe in chalk dust, please do not blow or fan the chalk dust into the air.
· Disposable latex gloves are excellent for blending colors with fingers and for protection.
· A 2' x 2' piece of cardboard, heavy fabric, or a carpet square allows one to sit or stand on the drawing without disturbing the work.
· A soft towel, gardener's pad, or knee pads to kneel on.
· A low beach chair to occasionally rest your back. Artists will not be allowed to block the foot traffic of visitors viewing the drawings.
· Chalkboard eraser for blending larger areas of color - an excellent tool for laying a basic undercoat of color covering your square onto which other colors may be applied. Also useful for blending are a plastic sheet, felt, and short-cut brushes.
· A towel, paper towels, or rags for wiping up as necessary.
· Water and a cloth or sponge to erase unwanted parts of your design.
· If showers are threatened, you may want to bring a plastic drop cloth to cover your work temporarily.
· If the weather is warm, bring a hat or visor and sunscreen for protection from the sun, and a capped container with drinking water.
· You may bring your own sunshade (umbrella, canopy, etc.) as long as it does not interfere with other artist's or fest visitors who are viewing the drawings.
Parking
· Parking may be difficult in downtown Henderson in the area around the fest. The Parking Garage on Water Street is open (enter off Texas St.), as well as the City Hall Parking Garage (enter off Basic Rd.). There will be NO PARKING available on Water St. You will be required to transport any materials that you bring to the Events Plaza on foot.
