Supporting Literacy with Spread the Word Nevada

Mar 25, 2025

On January 28, members of the Rotary Club of Green Valley joined other local volunteers at Spread the Word Nevada for a hands-on evening of book cleaning and preparation. Together, the group helped clean and process more than 3,000 gently used books, preparing them for distribution to children in underserved schools throughout the state.

Spread the Word Nevada is a Las Vegas–based nonprofit dedicated to advancing childhood literacy in Nevada. Each month, they deliver tens of thousands of books to low-income elementary schools, helping students build home libraries and develop a lifelong love of reading. To date, they’ve adopted 78 elementary schools across the state and donate an average of 60,000 books per month.

Rotary clubs throughout Southern Nevada have supported this initiative for more than a decade—through both financial contributions and countless volunteer hours. It’s a meaningful example of how Rotarians come together to support literacy and education in our local communities.

For members of the Rotary Club of Green Valley, this event reflects our ongoing commitment to service and aligns with our mission to support youth and education through hands-on, impactful work in Henderson, Las Vegas, and across Clark County.
